many things make me angry about the supreme court but one of the biggest things is just that none of those cowards in the gang of six will ever take real questions from the public
They honestly think they're every bit as above the law as they just made the President.
I hope none of them ever know a second of peace in public, and they live out their days in constant fear of the anger of millions of American, never again feeling either joy or peace.
Strip away their layers of protection & insulation from the real world & you have nude Steve Bannon cowering in Booking as he’s ordered to bend over & spread his cheeks.
You work at the paper that's been mansplaining to us how there's nothing to see here. Can you please speak up to them? Or maybe you have, in which case, many thanks.
And they issued this abominable decision on the last day of their term so they could dash out of town and onto their sugar daddies' yachts without having to deal with any blowback in the form of demonstrations and the like. I am referring here only to the conservative majority.
My question is… here in Mexico we just elected a progressive pro-green climate scientist as president… will that just go out the window the US seemingly turning into a monarchy?
many moons ago I got to ask Scalia a question after he spoke at a college event. don’t remember what it was, something about originalism I think. what I do remember is he criticized me for not standing to ask the question and then moved on without answering lol
And they would act so wounded if they were subjected to any sort of derision or even pushback. They truly think they've earned our deference. It's infuriating.
From the outside, the US is falling apart. Its democracy is becoming a joke. To have the highest court find a leader is above the law, just a sham. Now, Scotus has given a free rein to Trump to take full retribution on his enemies.
Clear understanding as to how useless it was to expect Roberts to hold Thomas and Alito accountable for ethics violations . . . or to have any ethics for this court.
If we dropped several hundred thousand to privately fly them to an exclusive resort to speak to a handpicked audience, they might consider taking a question.
I feel angry that they are rightly secure that democrats will not call them to account and neither will the current president use his new power to do diminish theirs.
Some "justices" may not take questions from the public, but they've certainly earned rotten tomatoes and eggs and worse flung at them by the public. It's payback for them shitting all over the Constitution.
The Senate needs to hold hearings on this. Invite the SCOTUS, but have the hearings whether or not they show up with video clips from their confirmation hearings.
It’s as if the only way the public has to register our displeasure is to stand outside their homes and yell at them.
We should be doing that by the thousands in 24 hour shifts. No rest for these people who are intent on destroying our country and causing so much pain.
Why would they? Even if we the people don't like them, they feel no pressure to do better. They're appointed for life, and can only be kicked out via impeachment, which will probably never happen with Congress the way it is. It's a council of 9 kings and queens who just made a 10th.
Related, but different:
How would we each feel if Biden used these new super-immunity powers granted by SCOTUS* to affect the election?
*of course all know that SCOTUS has ample flexibility of morals and principles to only ever actually allow a repugnican president to exercise these powers
