I have a rant similar to this but from the point of view that the sabotage of reconstruction is what fucked the south and doomed it to the poverty it’s only just now recovering from. 40 acres and a mule would have solved a lot of problems, in addition to recompensing the former slaves.

My hot take about the Reconstruction era is: it shouldve never ended. They should have a confederate flag on the floor of the voting booth in every state and you have to tread all over it before you can vote. There should also be an oath that says "black people are my equal". Cant say it:no vote
