It’s pretty alarming how the reporters suddenly devoted to watchdogging Biden can’t tell the difference between real drastic glitches like in the debate and normal fumbling

FASORP is apparently a big fan of hiring based upon the rank of the school which the candidate graduated. That's not a coincidence. Schools that keep engaging in that practice need to ask themselves what they are perpetuating. Maybe do some soul-searching. Hopefully.

I've had an NYT games subscription since 2011. I've been doing the crossword for years. I canceled it today. Running an editorial about the virtues of not voting, by a guy who regularly votes, on Independence day was my breaking point.

I had waited several years for someone with an audience to do what @chrislhayes.bsky.social and team did last week. Today’s immunity opinion is awful, and I also have faith that Americans care about corruption and can learn to see the Corruption Court clearly

By not defining "official acts" in a clear way the Court has again reserved power to itself. They will be the ones to decide which acts, and which Presidents, receive the protections that this case represents.

Grants Pass was decided last week. As was Snyder. Homeless people can be prosecuted criminally. Corruption can't be prosecuted criminally. Criminal law is for the poor and powerless.

“The Court’s conservative majority has revealed itself to be the most direct threat to American democracy, and any Democrat who is not ready to shelve old fears about ‘court packing’ and get serious about expanding and reforming the Court isn’t made for this moment.” Correct.

“You’re a lawyer! What does this mean, really?” Man, I don’t fucking know. In the last week an entire area of law I studied was more or less rendered entirely moot and now there’s one specific guy in the whole country who may be able to do anything he wants without recourse. This is kind of new.

Under today’s immunity decision, Biden could order AG Garland to immediately prosecute Thomas and Alito for corruption and insurrection. (Official act). If Garland refuses, Biden can fire him and replace him with someone who will. (Official act) I would suggest Elie Mystal.

This Originalist™ court has effectively immunized both the president and all federal law enforcement officers from any meaningful accountability. Because if there are two things the Founders cherished, it's the power of a king-like executive and armed agents of the government to act with impunity.

There is a *very* sharp paragraph in Justice Kagan's dissent in Loper Bright on the dance this conservative majority has performed repeatedly to weaken liberal precedents en route to overturning them altogether -- on worker's rights, on the Establishment Clause, and on voting rights.

As @joshchafetz.bsky.social says, this is a massive election year gift to the Republican Party. Instead of the consequences of right-wing extremism being fully on display, the story will be a "muddled legal landscape" with the suggestion that federal law can save us from red state legislatures.
