Rs: We gotta put biblical rules in schools
Me: Holy shit! Like a debt jubilee every 7 years?
Rs: Haha, no, not that one
Me: like "you shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt"?
Rs: Hahaha not that one either
Me: so, uh, which rules exactly?
Rs: Oh, you know the ones
Unaware that intelligent voters can love and respect their religion and the Constitution concurrently, Louisiana Rep. Gov. Jeff Landry drops a huge dung muffin, mounts his dinosaur, and trots off into the sunset.
A surprising thing about the Bible is that the commandments Moses chisels on stone tablets are not “The Ten Commandments” but a different set of commandments that are like:
• Observe Passover • Don’t marry Hittites • Don’t cook young goats in goat’s milk.
They certainly could have done worse than the 10 commandments if they are putting Hebrew Bible texts in schools. Prayer at school football games is way more out of line imo.
You: The ones used to promote a hollywood movie that appear in no actual version of scripture?
Rs: Uhh, of course. They are "secular" that way so it isn't a problem with the Supreme Court.
It's not exactly a secret hypocrisy, but it still boggles my mind that no one seems to have called into question a movement to instill civil religion in the US with the commandment "you shall not kill" less than a decade after the US intentionally killed hundreds of thousands of civilians in WWII.
Me: Oh, you mean the Beatitudes
Rs: What? No…
Me: So, the fruits of the Spirit? (Galatians 5:22-23)
Rs: no, no, no…
Me: So it’s gotta be the “think on these things” list (Philippians 4:8)
Rs: Stop it, just stop it…
Funny thing how it’s never about helping others, never about turning the other cheek, never about forgiveness, generosity, compassion, humility, integrity, etc.
What kills me is how obviously insincere and blasphemous this entire cabal is, including all these so-called "Christian" leaders. This is all about power, that's the entire game. And they all fucking know it.
