Dad… it’s been 9 years. In our family collection of blurry, squinty and poorly composed photos around the world, I found this - a typical Pratchett shot since we are 1)Not looking at the camera 2)focused on food and 3) embracing hat wearing. The trifecta. Miss you always. ❤️
I miss him every day. Reading his books made me a better person. Reading them to my son is the best part of my day. It's become our ritual that cannot be missed, much like Vimes with Sam and Where's My Cow? So sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 4 years ago, and still regularly get ambushed by grief
GNU Sir Terry.
Thank you for sharing your memories with us and allowing us glimpses into him as dad, and you as your younger self.
Sending all manner of love to you today.
2015 was a horrible year. So many great people were taken away from us. For me the loss of my wife in December was the toughest. Thank you for keeping good care of your father's heritage. ❤️
I recently had a diagnosis of terminal cancer, and things I learned from him have been an immense aid in carrying me
I have named the whole thing "An Inconvenience" partly in his honor, and he's quoted in my self-eulogy
I'm glad we had him in our world, and particularly that you had him in yours
I got to meet your dad when I was 12 or so at a book signing, I told him how much I loved Truckers, Diggers and Wings. He was incredible nice and friendly. His work has brought myself and my family so much joy and as my son grows up I can't wait to introduce him to his work
I never read all of discworld but am (not so) slowly making my way through
Have a couple on audible so I can still "read" when I'm otherwise occupied.
GNU
He’s missed by many who never met him. I can only begin to understand how much more so it must be to your family as I lost my own father a few years back, although we weren’t as close as you and your father seem to have been.
He will be remembered for his amazing positive contributions to the world
your father made me a better person and has brought more joy to my life than any other author
I’ve been running a QOTD series for the last six-plus to try to keep the spirit alive here
thank you for sharing him with the rest of us
Thank you so much for sharing this and I’m still so sorry for your loss. Your father’s books got me through some rough times - and opened my eyes in a lot of ways to the reality of organized religion - and for that he will always have a special place in my heart.
