I love Jason's FOIA work because he'll go hard against the culture of secrecy and then actually be honest with the reader about what's in the documents he worked so hard to shake loose. (Unlike some other outlets.)
And in this case: It's Fauci being entirely reasonable and thoughtful!

Honestly, I wish I understood it. He is definitely uncurious about foreign interference and wants to hammer the government on cost of living issues. Which, fair. But like, maybe you should see if your party is okay and advise it accordingly?

The rainy season in Japan is no joke. But happy to be in a city with so much to do. Thank you to the Japanese embassy in Canada for your advice as I further my research on Canada’s engagement in the Indo Pacific! It was a great week.

My colleagues, @plagasse.bsky.social and @smsaideman.bsky.social have been doing research on civil-military relations where their findings suggest that opposition MPs would rather not be read-in to defence situations in Canada b/c it ends up serving government's ends. They can explain better than I.

Honestly, I think this is one of those situations that is explained more by obstinance than anything nefarious.

I honestly have no idea why he wouldn't want to get clearance. If I was a Conservative MP I would be upset that he's not protecting his party. But I am not a political genius so maybe they get something I don't.

It’s okay. Just a report reviewing 30k pieces of intel suggesting that some parliamentarians are “willingly and semi wittingly” passing on information to foreign intelligence agencies. NBD. 😐

Political party leaders disagree over the interpretation of the evidence, with one saying it is not so bad and another calling a three alarm fire over collusion. No answers coming soon. It bad. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

I am very concerned that our political parties are not doing what they should. No one is acting. They kicked the findings to an ongoing inquiry that is already over-tasked. The opposition leader refuses to read the classified version of the report because he refuses to get clearance (?!)

It is... not awesome that the top leadership of both the ADL and the SPLC seem determined to torch their respective institutions' credibility at this particular moment in time.

Rs: Haha, no, not that one
Me: like "you shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt"?
Rs: Hahaha not that one either

No, Bellingcat is really not The CIA’s Journalism Wing, and perhaps you should spend like 2.5 seconds considering who out there might really want you to think that they are.

When the PM says NSICOP “did not properly interpret” the intel, does he feel this way about the Hogue & NSIRA reports too? Because they come to similar conclusions about the FI threat…
