I'm seeing a lot of "Why didn't the NYT tell Trump to leave the race?!" Come on now. The editorial said explicitly that if Biden stays in, the paper will unhesitatingly endorse him over Trump. The piece wasn't about who's worse. And what it WAS about is real, and can't be wished or shouted away.

Yes because writing about Trump's court cases, all of his racism, multiple wives, lack of money didn't keep an entire eco system of media going in NYC throughout the 80s & 90s & now he is a global phenomenon, a convicted felon; w/additional court cases & loads more to publish on him.

it feels like the whiteness of big political media spaces right now is having a big effect on how people are thinking about the debate. eg I have seen relatively little discussion of trump's "black jobs" comment, which immediately exploded on black twitter

I would disagree. I mean the NYT openly says he's a liar & a convicted felon. I think ppl misread dispassion for being biased. & I want my news to challenge the stories, the narratives being laid out there. I tell journalists I work w/to challenge & question no matter the "side" you're on.

I think this happened in the 19th century but not sure. Anyway 1. choose someone else 2. choose someone else 3. VP 4. VP I would assume there would be court cases tho challenging the VP. So this would be drawn out. But basically, the slot goes down the constitutional line I would think

And she would finish the term. So the elex would run as the normal sked. The thing is if he resigned now and Harris took the campaign over there is real worry she wouldn't win.

Yes. But Harris' image & ratings aren't great. Her ratings lower than Biden's that's the worry.

I think a lot of ppl ought 1. Not confuse editorial w/reportage 2. understand that telling you things that you *don't* want to hear is part of the job of news media. Things like Biden is declining faster than we are being lead to believe.

The NYT & Post both have leader writers that are exceptionally diverse. & don't make the mistake that just being black & a woman makes you correct. this is where identity politics get you fucked up. The reality is most in the media are not voting Trump.

This is a v. French style: "Just keep the Nazis out." And that's exactly where most people are right now.

No its not & I may feel v. often certain things aren't covered the way I want them to be but as someone who regularly covers a v. polarized environment I get where ppl like Ezra Klein & Astead Herndon are coming from. Dems should look at themselves.
