People who were repeatedly vaccinated for COVID-19 — initially receiving shots aimed at the original variant, followed by boosters and updated vaccines targeting variants — generated antibodies capable of neutralizing a wide range of SARS-CoV-2 variants and even some distantly related coronaviruses.
Interesting, because I was vaccinated twice plus a booster and have had COVID 4 times, 4 different variants. Once I was infected 40 days after my 2nd shot, so IMO the efficacy of the shots is dubious (estimates are 40% effective at best). This sounds like big pharma propaganda.
Well, of course. Viruses mutates. That should be common knowledge. So vaccine updates are required aswell. Completely logical.
I think viruses has the fastest evolution cycle of any living entity.
In between my upkeep with shots, I got Covid in early January of 2023. I only felt sick for about a day and a half. Worst chills I ever experienced, though.
I liked how we basically zeroed all normie flue deaths in 20/21 because of masking and then forgot about it
well until we made it illegal to wear masks because protesting against genocidal child murder makes republicans sad
I've kept up with vaccines and have only knowingly had it twice. I suspect a third. But it's coming up on a year since the last possible case. I go to concerts and stuff. I have to have been exposed. I'm doing ok.
As someone who has received 8 Covid vaccinations so far, and who has never had the virus, this article makes me feel like I have done the right thing by saying up to date on the shots.
I got boosted every 6 months since my initial shots, in October and April. This year I skipped and thought I’d do it annually instead, with my flu shot.
Maybe I should reconsider. I also still mask up and have never had a positive COVID test result nor a flu or common cold.
I can also now microwave things with my eyes, access the internet while peeing, and receive signals from flying saucers. Also my DNA has been changed and I am turning into a dinosaur.
Although I can't be certain if it was the Pfizer or Moderna that did these, or a mix of both.
Anyone checked in lately on those folks who deliberately got themselves 20+ COVID vaccinations? I remember one goon (as in SomethingAwful) getting a bunch ¡FOR SCIENCE! and a German fellow who got fifty by offering himself as a surrogate for anti-vaxxers.
(And as always, anti-vaxxers fuck off)
I haven't collected the whole set, but managed to get Novavax in time for the eclipse travel, in addition to a reasonable mix of Pfizer and Moderna mRNAs.
I was always kind of surprised I only got COVID the once after I stopped taking any kind of precaution except for keeping the vaccines up to date. Now I know.
Why does this news never spread but all of the antivax stuff spreads like... a plague???
This seems like a big story.
Meanwhile, the unvaxxed who have had it 5+ times by now are going to start having some issues.
Would be nice if we could eventually get a broad spectrum vaccine that covers nearly every virus in a category.
For instance, all coronavirus varieties, all flu varieties or all pox varieties.
Forgive my ignorance, but I didn't realize that the negative imprinting effect of the flu vaccine was a confirmed phenomenon. I thought it was still an unproven theory... Could someone point me to the data?
