Honestly, this week makes me extremely grateful that impact litigation, legislation, and regulation are not the only tools I have in my activism toolbox, because these are not great times for the rule of law.

Reminder that Aaron Swartz was facing 35 years in prison and financial devastation for trying to programmatically download and open the contents of JSTOR, which led to him taking his own life. But OpenAI is going to scrape all of academia and make billions by plagiarizing it.

The hilarious thing about this though, is that if implemented the same constituency that insists even the mere hint of sex even in biology classes is inappropriate for teenagers will have to explain what adultery is to first graders

When your opponent get convicted on 34 counts of criminal activity, you've gotta wrench the national spotlight away and shine it on your administration's world historic policy catastrophe. That's just politics 101.

The only people who've ever held Trump meaningfully accountable over the last nine years have been ordinary Americans and they've spent that entire time being lectured to and berated by elites who've failed to do anything.

A bleak outlook for the current state of professional academia. The system is broken and unsustainable in every way, from the amount of unpaid labor expected for anyone to succeed to low pay to job instability and precarity. I'm planning on holding out for as long as I can but it won't be easy.

I am ashamed of my alma mater UC Irvine for violently policing student protest at the university. And for arresting a tenured professor… As they dragged her away… I’m in tears at her impassioned response to job security… Not on the right side of history UCI Shame… shame on you!

This quote from the article below reflects something I’ve been thinking about: “They were interested not in improving public education but rather in sowing distrust, Gore said.” The folks spreading disinformation don’t care about solving problems, just about exploiting those problems for other ends.

I cannot overstate how dangerous to free speech and a healthy democracy it is to redefine all anti-Zionism and criticism of the state of Israel as antisemitism. You know who's loudly critical of Zionism and the Israeli govt? Jews. A lot of Jews.

Would now also be a good time to revisit a Single Payer/Public Option plan to give us a firmer foundation for our public health system than a growing spectrum of cost-cutting flavor-of-the-day for-profit insurances the move-fast-and-break-things crowd can pitch to their VC friends?

The first thing a lot of us in Texas probably think about when we see a lot of state troopers these days are the nearly 100 of them that stood by and let children die at an elementary school because they were too scared to do anything about a single shooter. It's all fucking cosplay.
