one of the problems with modern politics reporting is that it should not be on me, shitposter, to have to explain presidential campaign fundamentals to the general public, this is literally the job of politics reporters and they are virtually all failures at it

Had this same thought this morning. In 2020, we had a crowded Democratic primary where 20 (21 with Bloomberg?) candidates, some of whom would also have been decent nominees, duked it out, many of them raising the same concerns people have now, and Biden still CRUISED to the nomination!

I'll never forget when my high school biology teacher--who I still like and remember fondly, and who you would not guess was into this kind of business--kept trying to get me to watch Zeitgeist and was kind of a Sarah Pailin defender.

To be clear, I mean "above average" squarely in comparison with Trump's own decline as of late. The actual substance of his responses, at best, had the nuance and acuity of a children's board book, which is only not worth covering for the media because there's no novelty in Trump's behavior.

On the same morning, the Court said:
1) We should not presume to know more than small town mayors regarding complex, technical questions like whether to arrest people for being poor.
2) I don't see why a "PhD" in "nuclear physics" should have any latitude to implement ambiguous energy rules.

Not to be a sycophantic ally or anything, but also just free stacks of money. For real. Why not? Shit's expensive! And even if it wasn't, it's nice to have cash!

Especially when there's plenty of televised evidence that Trump is a rambling kook who had an above-average debate against another old guy. The idea that Biden couldn't come back from last night is just doomerism.

I think the opposite. He should be going on TV a lot, ideally to announce big new policies

It is, in large part, a widespread cynicism and nihilism about a hypothetical voter who is too stupid to understand rhetorical or performative nuance. The kind of lack of faith in country that might very well be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

"Oh no. His mouth was open and his eyes were moving. What a zombie." Have people never seen what some people look like when they're listening intently?

Yeah. I don't know why people are only panicking over Biden when Trump is running in circles, and whose only coherent idea--which may very well work in his favor--is "I'm good for the country, and he's bad for the country" over and over again.

The biggest losers of that debate? Anyone who watched it or stuck through the whole thing (me).
