Also, this article does a great job arguing that Sam/Frodo romance is canon. Esp when one the best pieces of writing from JRR in the whole thing is about Sam gazing at Frodo while he sleeps and thinking about how much he loves him.

I’ve said this often, but as a kid in school learning about the French Revolution, Soviet Revolution, Cuban Revolution, and the Maoist Revolution, I was shocked at some of the violence, & now I think they stopped smoking the bastards too early
