I’m struck by her repeated assumption in all this that sexual desire and violence towards women are inherent in AMABs and absent from AFABs. I wonder if she’s thought this through AT ALL. Do AFAB lesbians exist, Jo?

I don't know how many years of my life I've been writing Close-Guantanamo-Before-It's-Too-Late stories and while this would be a highly ironic end for Liz "The al-Qaeda Seven" Cheney the joke won't be funny for very long

/3 The problem is that almost anything can be shoehorned into an official act depending on how you characterize it or the level of generality you use. The Court’s “well of course a President has to use due care that election laws are enforced” hints at this.

Charles I was tried and executed for treason. Charles I’s reign was the historical bogeyman of the English political tradition post-Glorious Revolution (1688). There was a time when no justice could have pretended to be unaware of that. Most complaints about George III’s conduct go back to Charles.

I note that so many of the constitutional concerns about executive power actually go back to the early Stuarts and I would like to invite the majority in this case to go back and review, for both legal and self-interest purposes, how the reign of the early Stuarts ended. Hint: it was a trial!

Absolutely wild that the court accuses the dissent of "fearmongering" with "extreme hypotheticals" when the actual basis for the indictment is a coup attempt that led to an attack on the capitol

Just at the most basic level it is really unhealthy to have to thought about Donald Trump as much as everyone in America has over the last nine or so years. Spending a decade of my life thinking about a super boring, super shitty crook and all the bad stuff he's doing or might do. It's embarrassing.

All of this discourse makes a lot more sense if you see the current moment as a simultaneous relitigation of the 2016 and 2020 primaries by people who have spent the last 4 to 8 years still seething that their pick didn’t win instead of moving on. It’s why nobody’s advocating for Harris.

The reason pundits like the contested convention thing is that it plays to their vanities: what if the smart people made a meritocratic decision about who’s best? This is driven, in part, by being mostly isolated from negative reactions to their opinions over the years.
