Wow, real banana republic stuff. I'm glad our presidents can launder money and associate criminally without worrying about this kind of thing.

fuck man, I don't even know what to say anymore. One political party wants to burn everything to the ground and institute theocratic, kleptocratic autocracy. I think this is bad, just one man's opinion.

This man is making his evil intentions as crystal-clear as they possibly could be, and everyone who cares about humanity should be blasting that message out in every possible venue.

I keep thinking through all the arguments to keep Biden on the ticket and they all seem to concede that he shouldn't have run in the first place, which means I was right when I accused Dems and the White House of having zero strategy other than saying "it's still early" until it was too late.

Donald Trump abused his powers in a lot of "there's no recourse except impeaching him" ways and Biden mostly refused to do any of that and the reward he's received is that the Centrist Norms-Guarders who actually pretend to care about that stuff have now all called on him to step down.

I would state that Hamas launched 7 October attack knowing the likely response by Netanyahu's RW Government would be what it is. Biden's age, being very much someone who viewed Israel in the light of the Holacaust, was pretty predictable.

Something I've been thinking for a while, but haven't said. It's not up to Joe Biden alone to defeat Donald Trump. The responsibility is on all of us. That includes getting the message out. You are more credible to Uncle Jack who thinks that Trump is THE MAN to push Putin out of Ukraine. 1/

The conventional wisdom is that there’s a sizable chunk of decent people who really dislike Trump, but can’t bring themselves to support Biden b/c of his age, etc. The reality is that 45-47% of the public plan to vote for Trump because they like him. Even now. And that’s fucking depressing.

I grew up in an authoritarian state where the court was the legal enforcer of authoritarianism. We called that justice system, “the telephone justice” (la justice telephone). One phone call from the autocrat, & it’s done. Right now, I see SCOTUS the same way. Zero trust or confidence in it. Zero!

I also really wonder whether business will find the regulatory uncertainty created by tossing all of this into a non-expert, politically fractured, slow-moving judiciary more palatable than whatever uncertainty they are currently deal with from federal bureaucrats with actual expertise.

It's funny how Gorsuch finds the "irreparable harm" is the decrease in the ROI on these power plants & the harm caused to lungs, with thousands of premature deaths & illnesses, are just the cost of doing business.

Jonathan, that's incorrect. Scott is spending the money he stole from the American taxpayer when the for profit hospital company of which he was CEO stealing $1.7 billion dollars (1990s money) from Medicare, Medicaid, & Tricare. So we are all paying for Rick Scott's political career.

A crucial part of this story, by the way, is the recognition that decent people standing up against evil people was essential. It still is. Jackson got through it both based on his strength of character and based on key people not putting up with bad behavior.
