Also, if they're fungus gnats (really common on inside plants), they're more of an annoyance than anything, and really sensitive to letting the soil drain and dry. if it is them, then sticky traps are also useful.

it's stressful for the sprout, especially if it's young, and personally, I wouldn't do that unless I wasn't having any luck with anything else and/or I saw actual bug eggs on the pot. You'd have to make sure you got all the old dirt off, and that can be difficult.

in the order I'd try them: Neem oil/indoor spray, going to a garden shop for a "systemic" insecticide, letting the plant dry out and maintaining very good drainage, complete dirt replacement with a pot wash. I'd avoid any of the "water with hydrogen peroxide" sort of home options.

My ex used to do this to me, despite knowing graphic descriptions of sex make me uncomfortable. It didn't bother THEM, so they couldn't figure out why it would bother me. They cared, so ipso facto, of course I should care. I don't know what you call that, being self-absorbed?

There's an interesting problem in digital preservation, which is that preservation only exists actively. Only the things you actively move to new formats, survives. Community is probably the same way: it has to be actively maintained in order to outlive whatever spot it's currently in.
