I've increasingly come to feel that there's an ableist and perhaps ageist aspect to some of the criticism toward Biden. To an extent, I think about the implications for the elderly and the disabled community's ability to participate in public life.

Maybe there are arguments that Biden should step aside, but I'm skeptical of the idea that a politician's reliance on a teleprompter reflects cognitive decline. I don't think it would be given such importance were it not for a Trump presidency, like it wouldn't be discussed if Bush wasn't elected.

Something I don't hear talked about enough is the fact that, yes, you can move to a US state where higher ed is cheaper or even free, but wages are so low that unless you have someone to move in with, you may never be able to *afford* to leave.

Interesting. You could see this coming: global wild fish catch peaked around the 1990s and fish/seafood demand keeps rising, so the gap has been filled by rapid growth in aquaculture. Aquaculture production will probably continue to grow.

I'm taking a course for work and the instructor told us about how when he was in middle school, bullies stole his plastic dinosaur and ripped its head off. In response, he reattached its head using pencil lead and made a pewter cast of the dinosaur so its head would never be ripped off again.

I work for a state park system. We had our orientation yesterday. All staff & visitors are at high risk of heat stroke. Inland beaches are expected to close more than usual due to urban runoff. Entire parks are underwater for 6 hours a day. Wildfire season is year-round. This is in New England.
