If people have when heard of it, most don't realize how recent Byrd Machine was! I know people who were Kennedy delegates in 68, with stories of how the Byrd Machine had state troopers trying to arrest them on their way to the state Democratic Convention so they couldn't get there!

The psychodramas of Erastus Corning and Dan O'Connell! Boss Crump! "Vote often and early for James Michael Curley!" And now that line about the aged Curley, seeing an unfamiliar sign. "Who is this fellow, Pizza?" When told, he replied "I figured we might get a contribution out of him."
