I honest to God think that half the reason they want Biden to drop out is so they can dogpile Kamala and really lock in the Trump win. Doesn't matter if you're talking about beltway pundits or leftier than thou "socialists." It's death cult all the way down for both of them.
For me, one of the hardest parts of the past couple of decades is learning how conservative our media really is. I grew up revering the NYT and defending it against charges of the "liberal media bias," only to realize I'd been had.
Joe is the only option this late- and more days for him & VPHarris will get us past this.

Yea real problem we face—even as they try and drive Biden out of the race—same folks will stick to ‘uwu we’re just smol beans who can’t influence the election’. Accordingly, getting no real dialogue from those folks around how any +/- to dropout will be heavily mediated by media (ie their) reaction
Counterpoint: given two people the media hates, I'll take the one who can more effectively make their case directly to voters.

Why do they hate her, though? Is it strictly racism and misogyny? I can't see where she's done anything horrible, or even semi-horrible. Is it because the right-wing opinion media has Hillary Clintonized her?
I think that’s true, and I think 2016 showed that enough Americans will find any reason at all to avoid electing a woman to make it electorally impossible.
Not just the media, but the (left) activist base as well. It's really an underappreciated aspect how much of the agita over Biden's health and performance is actually anxiety about Kamala Harris.
Why isn't "I've been preparing for this moment for the last 4 years" Newsom or Whitmer not an option? Is it strictly name recognition? Or is it Trump gaining the "incumbent advantage"?
Can't win an election if 72% of the public thinks you're mentally not capable of holding the office based on a debate that basically proves the point. That would be disqualifying even for people who like his policies and would otherwise be indifferent to the candidate.

I'm not the biggest Harris fan (I'm to her left), but I think the uniqueness of this race (old, unpopular criminal opponent who wants to overthrow the government, has enough of the electorate ready for "anyone but him") that it'll offset some of that?
