NC's GOP candidate for governor is speaking at a "controversial" church. It's somehow worse than I imagined.

"[the church] has been publicly accused of…engaging in criminal behavior including slave labor, financial fraud and the sexual and physical abuse of children."

Full quote from ex-ICE director Tom Homan: "Trump comes back in January... I will run the biggest deportation force this country has ever seen. They ain’t seen shit yet. Wait until 2025.” Tonight in Florida Trump pledged to bring Homan back. Homan, BTW, is a listed Project 2025 contributor.

Didn't a certain court recently make crystal clear that the Department of Justice is the President's to use as he sees fit? Wouldn't Biden be doing some most excellent malicious compliance by ordering this investigation to go forward?

I am 100% sure that if Hochul had started congestion pricing on June 30th as scheduled the "controversy" would have been over by now and she could have begun bragging about cleaner air and all the other benefits of fewer cars. Instead she created a mess that is going to dog her forever.

The press using the white house visitor logs to write up (apparently false) attacks on Biden after Biden published visitor logs and Trump didn't: good illustration of the reward for upstanding and ethical behavior in the current media environment.

It’s amazing the extent to which our billionaire tech bro overlords are just telling us out loud that they are rooting for fascism. Makes me slightly nostalgic for the days when American plutocrats plotted against democracy in secret.

Biden could remove all the judges from SCOTUS with open corruption complaints for not being in good behaviour... SCOTUS already said it was legal. Which would create a fun paradox where the only way to be restored to the court was if remaining justices overturn immunity.

occurs to me that bribing the president is now /always/ legal, since in every case the only way to distinguish gratuity from bribe is via evidence that could never be admissible

The right wingers on SCOTUS in their misguided joy do seem to forget a rule of authoritarianism. When a government body grants a strongman new powers, the strongman often moves to end that body so they can never try to take the power back.

The 6 fascist judges on SCOTUS honestly want us to believe that the founders intended the Constitution to give the president immunity if he ordered the military arrest/kill members of Congress that oppose him. Seriously. That is their argument.
