After the Court’s decision yesterday, I think there’s an argument from necessity for Biden seizing Trump and trying him by military tribunal, given the sudden unavailability of Article III courts. Plus, itʼs just the sort of thing they’ve authorized an active and energetic chief executive to do.

Excited about this PR by @esb.lol adding the ability to set feeds other than "Following" as the default.

Algorithms have an editorial effect. I don't want a world where we're locked into them. If you dig reverse-chron Following, keep it as the default. If you dig the Science feed, use that.

Always interesting to see the wording of such closures as 'death by bureaucracy' and 'administrative headwinds' from academics embracing racism and eugenics. Which also lie at the heart of longtermism and effective altruism. None of this should be anywhere near AI development either.

Good news, thanks to journalism unions: Today the NY legislature passed a new journalism-jobs tax credit in the 2025 state budget. The program, worth $30M/yr over 3 years, allows an eligible newsroom to get a 50% credit against the first $50K of each journalist's salary, capped at $300K per org.

my latest: we wanted to know how often large cargo ships lose propulsion in US waters and we found more than 400 (that the Coast Guard knows of) in the past three years, a quarter of which lost propulsion near a port, bridge or other infrastructure.

Lawyers for voting machine company Smartmatic want a judge to figure out soon how much pillow magnate Mike Lindell will owe them in sanctions. Lindell's lawyers quit the case because he was "millions of dollars in areas" and Smartmatic is concerned he might not be able to pay them, either.

One of the things in natsec is how the blast radius of counter-intelligence operations is large. Every piece of information, no matter how dumb, or how small, *ruins lives*. Do not reveal any part of it. You don't need to. And it harms people to give *any* information, even if it feels small
