Wow, real banana republic stuff. I'm glad our presidents can launder money and associate criminally without worrying about this kind of thing.

Good to see @nytimes.com keeping up its stellar record of letting the far-right use them to launder lies into circulation without even the barest oversight to ensure the dude writing “I don’t vote” does not, in fact, consistently vote

The number of Google searches for Project 2025 skyrocketed after Taraji P. Henson mentioned it during her BET Awards appearance and encouraged the audience watching to Google it. That single black woman did more for liberal causes than all the current DNC leaders and the candidates themselves.

This is pretty much where I am at, although I still have concerns about who certifies the electoral votes (I think Harris can still do this if Biden doesn’t resign?) and how hard the legacy media will immediately turn their guns on her

Lmao at the idea of any piece discussing a contested convention without mentioning the ‘68 disaster as “clearly thought through.” As someone else pointed out, today’s DNC delegates were not selected for their negotiating acumen and are even less prepared to conduct the process than the ‘68 delegates

I agree that she was not weak, but I’ll respectfully suggest that her history as Bill’s aide-de-camp and involvement with Wal-Mart showed her to be less progressive on labor issues than Biden.

Good point from Sotomayor here. By barring prosecutors from probing a president's intent, Roberts renders the entire "official vs. unofficial" distinction meaningless.

The robust conservative media infrastructure has retconned 2016: The scandal accusations against Trump were, in retrospect, attempts to steal the election of the legitimate president. The candidate who kept getting whacked by the FBI and hackers? Yeah she tried to rig it

Canada Day is a good day to appreciate the virtues of constitutional monarchy as a system that sharply divides the roles "sovereign who is above the law" and "partisan governing executive facing reelection who is in in charge of the armed forces, the intelligence & prosecutorial agencies, etc."

roberts’ reasoning is fundamentally (lower-case “r”) anti-republican. i know we dunk on the framers here but roberts has issued a rebuke of the revolutionary assumption that concentrated, unaccountable power is a fundamental threat to liberty.

The sad part is that I generally liked him in the years leading up to 2016. He’d grown up in the Memphis area, served as a Dem volunteer in 2008 and even served as a Public Defender for a bit after law school. He just went full “Jacobin Mag” after moving to the West Coast.

I started my career reporting on how people were using the Internet in dictatorships, and if there's one BIG thing I learned from talking to a bunch of people who literally had served jail time for political blogging, it was "choose your battles wisely, and don't say dumb things in dumb places."

I think there's a bit of irony to the fact that them all calling on Biden to step aside /actually/ shows they understand the risk of Trump, but are aggressively suppressing it. But the reason they're worried about Biden's performance /is/ because they are, if they would admit it, worried about Trump
