People just… kept pretending that the dude who conned them hadn't conned them and was, in fact, a super genius, instead of taking the fucking L and holding him anything like accountable

The thing I can't stop thinking about is this: I'm 48, and in my adult lifetime there has been one Republican who won the popular vote. But I will probably spend the rest of my life under the authority of a Supreme Court dominated by hard right conservatives. How is that democracy?

🧵 In 2020, I nearly died from mysterious industrial chemical exposure at my apartment. Later, I discovered my employer was dumping toxic waste into our windows from their Skunkworks semiconductor fab next-door. I tipped off US EPA, who then raided them in 2023. EPA sent me the report on Friday. 💀 ⬇️

The mask bans are absolutely terrifying on every level. It's horrible for public health and absolutely will be used against disabled people (who deserve to be able to go out in public, participate in protests, etc!!)

I hate wearing a mask tbh, it exacerbates so many of my existing health issues especially as the weather gets warmer but I do it as much as I’m physically able in public and if more people adopted this the safer we’d collectively be

Though this doesn't hold a candle to the "office space" in cities that workers don't want to work in and that people could use for housing if the CEO class didn't insist on "protecting their investment"--though the discussion here about the lack of sustainability of said buildings is enlightening

I hate that in so many areas (like mine), we need more housing, but rather than undo the cancer of houses turned into "vacation rentals" we need to bulldoze more trees and it's totally your fault, poor people.

This poor girl was the class president but was a bench warmer on a marginal HS team, got reported, the police were called to investigate her gender, and now she dropped out of school and is taking online classes. She transitioned in 1st grade and never had a whiff of male puberty.

People are losing their minds over the hypothetical situation of a trans athlete somehow costing their Kayleigh a sports scholarship. There's a .001% chance of that happening, but they'll spend hundreds of hours screaming and passing legislation about it, because there's nothing else to worry about.

I don't think this is *quite* true.

I find there's a HUGE amount of regional difference in what's considered polite.

Growing up in NY/NJ, being direct was common. People I knew from WV and TX saw this (especially questions) as rude.

Also: No more "no-knock" warrants. I get why they exist, but we supposedly allow Americans to carry firearms expressly so they can use them when under threat, such as a home invasion. No-knock warrants are inviting fatal injury. Which is worse than someone flushing cocaine down the toilet.
