Some REALLY WEIRD agency going on there, Dave. "Biden's age" is not writing the political columns. Reporters with autonomy (or editors) are. Pack punditry has decided political violence is less important than one of two candidates' age.

I'm now wondering if there's any way to rewrite or reinterpret whatever provision created this program to ignore states entirely and connect directly with organizations doing food assistance work in those states -- I'm sure they would welcome the funds

people will vote for trump because even though they’re much more likely to benefit from one of the social welfare programs he wants to gut, they think they could one day be an unrepentant asshole who tells lies without consequences and runs the world.

"I've seen it from the press." That was @JoeBiden speaking truth about where this attack is coming from. It's not coming from the voters, from the public, but from the privileged press.

CDC: COVID is a health threat that can surge all year round.

NY Democrats: The pandemic is over, let's ban masks!

The mask ban is anti-science, anti-public health, anti-safety.

Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting. Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

it feels like the whiteness of big political media spaces right now is having a big effect on how people are thinking about the debate. eg I have seen relatively little discussion of trump's "black jobs" comment, which immediately exploded on black twitter

Today in 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the consequential Federal Aid Highway Act, which created the 41,000-mile interstate highway system and was justified and promoted partly on the basis that it would enable the swift evacuation of US cities in the event of a Soviet nuclear attack.

This whole fucking article is just "black people complain to much and America wants them to shut up." SCOTUS didn't have a vision of 'colorblind' America. This country isn't 'race-neutral'. The GOPs new favorite curse word is DEI!

there it is. if we all simply pretend that race isn't an axis of material disadvantage and that racial inequality has no bearing on any outcomes, then america is officially race-neutral and if you bring it up, you're the real racist

Originalism cannot be a real governing philosophy: by its nature, it cannot grapple with what technology means, except as a yes-no test in which the Justices choose either the narrow or the broad historical test detailed here, depending on whether they personally actually want the conduct regulated.
