In the cold waters of the Pacific coast of the US & Canada are forests of giant kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera. Under optimal conditions, they can grow as much as 2 feet (0.6 m) per day, to heights of 175 ft. Let's talk about the weirdness of giant #kelp & how it can help us.

Models of everyday life were deposited in Egyptian tombs. They were supposed to support the deceased in the afterlife. One of the most charming examples is the model of a cow giving birth. Carved in wood, painted. Probably from Meir, Egypt, dating c. 2040-1985 BC. 1/2 🏺 AncientEgyptBluesky

There’s a Dunning-Kruger effect here: When you’ve seen just enough movies to begin spotting unacknowledged lifts it feels like something shady is going on; when you’ve seen so many that every framing, camera move, and color palette reminds you of earlier work, you realize it doesn’t matter as much.
