Also worth mentioning that if both Biden and Trump are unfit to do the job, I’d rather have whoever Biden chose to really run things rather than the Nazis at the Heritage Foundation. Hell, it doesn’t even matter if Trump *can* do the job because we all know he *won’t*.

Everyone complaining about Biden maybe not being at peak form if he has to be woken up by an emergency forgets that Trump didn’t do anything until about 11 am daily except shitpost. He also didn’t pay attention to any briefing unless his name was in it. And that was 7 years ago.

The net effect of how the Internet works now is that people will see 100 snippets of text or video saying people think Biden should drop out and just assume that's the conventional wisdom without really looking into it.

More people will see a stream of out-of-context op ed headlines that they don't realize aren't actually news headlines (and also will not read) than watch the debate.

The only polls I saw either didn't change or only dropped within the margin of error. It's far enough away from election day that it's barely different from random noise. Obama saw a bigger drop after his first debate in 2012. Where was the party calling for him to drop out then?

This is true though. Every day Biden will be a new age that is older than any age he was previously, so reporting on his age will always be breaking news.

This is the fundamental problem we’re facing, with Biden, with Trump, with politics. We spend many hours a day consuming media. But the content of that media is increasingly determined not by WHAT IS TRUE, but by WHAT EARNS AUDIENCE ATTENTION. Factoids are harvested and rebuilt into those stories.

Mississippi is the poorest state in the US.

Even though the state gets federal welfare funds, it is difficult to get welfare.

The money was all getting stolen, and they got away with it.

Now the journalists who exposed the story are facing a lawsuit and jail.

By your logic we'd still have slavery because Lincoln was still a racist despite thinking maybe slavery was bad. We'd still have Jim Crow and school segregation. We wouldn't have the ACA because it wasn't single payer. I'd argue "avoid much worse" has actually worked every time it's tried.

it’s why you have people still blaming affirmative action for why their kids couldn’t get into harvard et al. it’s not legacies or the fact that these places are hyper-selective. it’s that there is *a* black person who took *your* spot.

this entire crusade against diversity in hiring and admissions is based on the supposition that all white men are necessarily more qualified than any nonwhite person or woman who might be considered for the job. like, this lawsuit more or less states that outright.

There is no depth to which Jonathan Turley will not sink. He’ll say that Trump will never do the outrageous things Trump threatens to do, and that there are laws in place to prevent it, then when Trump does them he will say the laws don’t apply and that Trump was forced to do the things by woke.
