I don't think everyone is "suddenly" having adhd and autism. I think millennials were raised by parents who were ashamed of having children that weren't "normal" so we were forced to mask so hard that we "seemed" normal but were "just a little strange" and now we're all learning to unmask.

Anecdotally, I've heard quite conservative coworkers seriously discussing installing solar at their houses, which is cool.

Unthinkable just a few years ago: For the first time renewables (wind, solar, hydro) produced more EU electricity than fossil fuels in 2023. 2/3 of EU electricity is from non-fossil fuel generation. Source Ember

I think the strangulation of physical media is a huge factor in film mattering less to people. You loved some silly-ass movie? There it was on your shelf, begging for a replay. The director sat down to do commentary. Its presence in your home was tangible. Now it’s just a blip on just another app.

a lot of people misunderstand the "vibecession" debate. the question isn't "is the economy good?" the question is "what explains the unprecedented disconnect between consumer sentiment and economic performance?"

Fun fact: did you know that effort, policy, campaigning and activism directed towards climate change results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and lower fossil fuel use

Giving fossil fuel fatalism the middle finger works really nicely :) :)

Finally watched Last Night in Soho. Spoilers for a movie from 2021, I guess. I'm kind of shocked by all the discussion I heard online when it came out that it was confusing or had a weird second act. It's literally the most paint-by-numbers plot for a movie of its genre.

At this pace, by 2030 battery deployments will have solved all issues of renewable energy variability, pointing the way to a 100% clean electricity grid with little need for gas backup.
