Maybe that’s why they didn’t read it, avoiding facts, evidence and the reality since the election.

The worst part of neither Doocey nor Luxon bothering to read this report is that they are about to begin a new cycle of abuse in care with bootcamps.

Apart from the ministerial malpractice on Doocey's part, the profound disrespect to the abuse victims who testified before the Commission is beneath contempt.

Shame the Prime Minister doesn't agree, and makes it all about his political self-interest..

This is probably my biggest concern too. How can we ask people to participate in democracy when we just ignore the input they offer up.

This enthusiastic and informed participation is one of the great strengths of our communities of practice in Aotearoa. It dissipates if people lose faith and trust in the process.

How can you possibly argue that you take ANY issue “very very seriously” when the Minister responsible hadn’t even sodding read the report!!
Do y’all believe me now about select committee members not bothering to read submissions?

So true. Have also witnessed this with consultations on climate adaptation and retreat (notably the considerable time and effort put in by Māori researchers, planners and kaitiaki).

If nothing else, it has caused a huge problem with trust and democratic participation. Why would anyone—teachers, scientists, etc—put in all those extra hours again in future when their work can be thrown out so easily?

Something big we haven’t fully processed or reflected on is the massive amount of time and effort people around NZ have contributed towards long term curriculum changes, science system changes and local govt reforms, amongst others. All rejected by current govt. The deep engagement meant nothing.

It’s unbelievable, unforgivable and, you’re right, profoundly disrespectful. Every day with this crew in governments there’s another example of gobsmacking ignorance and incompetence and Doocey’s painted himself as someone who cares about people’s mental health. A tūī billboard moment.

Callous disregard for people, communities, facts and evidence seems to be a feature not a bug of the crew in Government:

“RNZ has learned Doocey, one of the ministers with responsibility for assessing the Royal Commission's recommendations, was then sent the report personally in November.”

In November, Israel arrested Mohammad Abu Salmiya on the claim that he facilitated the use of Al-Shifa as a "Hamas HQ". This was served to the west and Israeli public as justification for the storming and massacres in the hospital complex. After 7 months of torture, he was released without charges.

Starmer got less votes today than Corbyn did in the "disaster" of 2019, which Labour have given up absolutely every principle to avoid repeating. This wasn't a Labour win, it was a Conservative loss. Remember that for next time.

Things a NZ public school should not do: fill their newsletter with excited pics of a fun opportunity that only kids with money to donate to a sports fundraiser were allowed to attend during standard school hours. “Learning” was the alternative punishment for the unpaid. C’mon NZ.

Hang on, hasn't our bloody Government just lifted speed restrictions? From 7 July all new cars sold in the EU and in Northern Ireland must have a range of technical safety features fitted as standard. The most notable of these is intelligent speed assistance – or colloquially, **a speed limiter**.

The accommodation supplement doesn't make them higher - greedy landlords do. Why don't we ban increasing rents just because the supplement increases? #NZPol
