Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting. Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

The founders would have understood it as treason, and would resort to war against someone who attempted it, and punish it with hanging. Other countries would prosecute it as treason. That is what it is. Folks should be clear eyed on it.

Hochul’s decision to kill congestion pricing was horrible but seeing a story about Gen Z influencers abandoning Biden over climate policy makes me think pols have absorbed the lesson that lowering emissions just doesn't pay off politically - you make enemies and proponents won't be satisfied.

Editors like to think "news judgment" is their magical force. The Post's news judgment sucks, playing Hunter Biden story over progress in Gaza negotiations & economic growth. Times plays Hunter above Gaza & Alito fascism. That's not news judgment. Not journalism. That's politicized pandering.

It's amazing how those quotes are published with no follow up, e.g. "During the time when America was an unchallenged hegemon among capitalist economies, what policies were in place? What policies do Democrats advocate now that threaten those policies and/or the global economy they created?"

A think you don't hear much about THE GREATEST GENERATION is that they were for most of their lifetime, distinctly left-leaning compared to the later silent and boomer generations. e.g. Dukakis did better in 88 with over 60s than with any other demographic, ditto Clinton in 92

Democrats will shift polling on immigrant rights when we start boldly, proudly defending immigrants. Defending immigrants is patriotic (every migrant is a foot vote for America) and freedom-affirming. MAGA Republicans hate and betray the American tradition of welcoming immigrants.

Excellent point. This is plainly *worse* than "deplorables." That's especially the case when you consider that in the video, the guy said Trump will "get rid of" liberals, and Trump promoted it on his Truth Social feed, plainly endorsing the sentiment.

It is long past time to retire the concept of the "Trump voter" as a distinct and puzzling political animal. The modal Trump voter isn't a laid-off steelworker or a benighted Qanon fanatic but a completely ordinary Republican backing their nominee. The same kind of people who backed McCain & Romney.

His credibility & fidelity to his oath remain in question unless he can push Durbin to take real action." 🎁
