Disagree with "every" but it would be a better default mode. X-Men 97 certainly shows how great an animated superhero show can be.

but I do think it's reasonable for Democrats of all stripes to be concerned about the effectiveness of Biden as a spokesperson for the coalition right now. The nature of aging is that good people gradually get worse at things. And we all saw the same debate.

Absolutely. I think we in the Bluesky bubble are mostly on the same page there. I'm voting for a Democratic administration and Democratic control of Congress. I'm not confident of the right answer to the Biden question (other than "contested convention" being WRONG)

Is the president a Boss Man Who Controls Everything or are elections about electing a coalition of appointees to enact policies? If it's the latter and the president is no longer an effective spokesperson, then there we are.

sorry but this is just wrong. yes, there’s a bad faith media feeding frenzy. but *fifty million* people watched Biden sputter his way through that debate. it is not a creation of the media, it is a real problem.

Also a lot of folks struggling that "him being president would be infinitely, infinitely better than the alternative" and "this campaign is stepping on a lot of rakes and it needs to urgently not step on rakes" are both thoughts you can hold in your head at the same time

I've been in this business a long time and find that when people go into "shut up shut up shut up" mode, it's rarely because they think silencing people will actually achieve the stated goal. It's usually because they don't have a good rebuttal and so they blame the person bringing up the points.

I simultaneously feel like Biden should probably not be the Democratic nominee and also that parts of the media seem weirdly gleeful about it in a way that completely ignores the consequences of electing Trump again

Also, this being the UK, part of the story is that the SNP has TERF and pro-trans rights wings, and the former getting the upper hand has alienated the Scottish Greens and others on the left.

The Lib Dems are strong in Scotland so there's a lot of 4-way races. And this seems in line with prior polling.

No, this is a relatively very good number of seats for them given that their vote is very inefficiently distributed.

JUST IN: Labour heading toward a landslide victory in the UK. This is their return to power, for the first time since 2010. National exit poll, released moments ago, shows them above 400 seats. The ruling conservatives projected at 131, which would be their lowest since WWII.
