According to one journalist’s tally, the New York Times has run 192 stories on the subject since the debate, including 50 editorials and 142 news stories. The Washington Post, which has also gone for saturation coverage, published a resignation speech they wrote for him.

It’s practically a NYT rule that NYT has no influence, no agenda setting power, and whatever they make the biggest story is not a choice, but something that just sorta happens.

It's so weird because I remember in the early days of Wikipedia I had teachers/lecturers absolutely bombard us with "it's not always reliable, don't use it as a primary source". Is the marketing on AI so convincing that this old adage is meaningless in the context of LLM's?

If you don’t watch cycling I want to share the joy of Eritrean Biniam Girmay, who is the first Black person to win a stage in the Tour de France and now won his second! In the first week! And he’s in green, which means he’s winning the most sprints (and beating Jasper Phillipsen, which is great.)

Full court press - the Times can make a story last when they want it too, similar to how every conservative - even the "moderates" start rowing in the same direction when theres a supreme court confirmation fight.

I mean look at that subhead/tease. "Amid signs of dysfunction, Chief Justice John Roberts reasserted his authority, while the influence of Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito wanes." All they care about is the damn horse race. Not the elevation of the president as king. It's unconscionable.

There’s obviously a stylistic connection between manga & ukiyo-e art, but it’s much more direct than that. Ukiyo-e art was falling out of fashion in Japan JUST when the magazine industry was kicking off, and they LITERALLY hired ukiyo-e artists to draw the first cartoons for these magazines.

The Court has purported to strip us of all legal recourse for crimes committed by the most powerful person in the nation. Each and every one of us is now, effectively, at the mercy of an autocrat, who could order our death if he simply made the pretense of connecting it to his official duties.

DOJ Independence: gone.

This has been a radical position that Trump has proposed, and his fellow indictees like Jeffery Clark has pushed. Roberts just said, yeah, why not. Lets make that the law.

I know smut may seem like a frivolous thing to be upset about, but crushing it is part of fascism. Controlling all forms of sexual expression is fascism. Only allowing certain kinds is fascism. Smut peddlers are always canaries in the coal mines.

3 were also appointed by Trump, who lost the popular vote, & 2 more by Bush, who lost it for his 1st term www.dailykos.com/stories/2023...
