Has anyone ever had scandal-hungry political reporters run as much interference for them as Trump? The campaign itself doesn't even seem to be making this (absurd) defense. It's just the AP reporter spitballing some ideas.
I really think the apotheosis of this is the stolen secrets. It’s literally the worst possible permutation of Hillary’s email server in intent, security risk, and cover up and while they were obsessed with the email server they’re utterly bored with Trump’s full realization of its potential.
He was really talking about having a new Frank Reich, a backup quarterback who nevertheless has the leadership to pull off one of the greatest comebacks ever.
Let’s pretend that is indeed what the reference is (it’s not). What, then, would that even mean?
That Trump wants to be an emperor? That he wants to go to war with France?
I mean, it's not the AP reporter spitballing, it's the AP reporter reading the text in the video and finding its source, as the article says just a few paragraphs later apnews.com/article/trum...
Back in the 1930s many mainstream publications downplayed the fash and spun the Germany is doing great narrative so I'm not surprised in 2024 msm cheerleading tfg's uber-reich.
It’s the mansplaining of Trump 24/7. “Well actually, the word ‘genoside’ comes comes from the Ancient Greek meaning ‘Gene’s Salad.’ So he’s really just promoting healthier eating for liberals!” SMDH
Also, that context makes no sense for a nation with an already established federal government. Nor does it make sense for an aspiring president who never had the support of even half of the country when he “led”.
I’ll bet the house that clown knows nothing whatsoever of the Kaiserreich. And none of his MAGA muppets will even know that Germany was stitched together in 1871.
NPR did the same, citing this and other examples as Trump being "connected" to antisemites or "echoing" antisemitism. Like yall this is just Being antisemitic. he's been doing this for nearly a fucking decade now.
They'll really go scouring the history books to try to come up with some non-nazi or authoritarian spin on something he said. You know, the things that guy everyone says they like because he says what's on his mind. That's why you need to find esoteric definitions of what he says
They must have the Horse Race. If it requires dishonesty and/or running interference for one side*, then so be it. The Horse Race must continue.
*offer valid only for Republicans
You seem like a nice person I was browsing through when I came across your page, just wanted to say hi but I can not seem to so I had to leave this message … Maybe we can become friends and share our respective lives. Sharing our different experiences would be an interesting thing to do, I'm sure!

The word Führer often refers to Adolf Hitler, though some of the other words in the video Trump shared may suggest he was referring instead to the power and responsibilities of a bus driver.
"no no, this usage of 'Reich' isn't a reference to the Third Reich, it's simply a Reich that comes *after* the Third Reich. if we had to put a number on it, perhaps a Fourth Reich. no wait don't google that"
I see. They just want to recreate the political climate that got us into WW1 rather than WW2. 🤔🙄
Equilly terrible but with pointy helmets and bushy mustaches.
As a native German speaker: This is such bullshit. English speakers only use the word Reich to refer to Nazi Germany, not just any German empire, the same way the word Soviet isn't used to mean any council, it's always in reference to the USSR. No way the author believes that argument himself!
Protestors: From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
Press: This is clearly anti-semitic, no possible other interpretation.
Trump: Ein Reich! Ein Volk! Ein Fuhrer!
Press: Trump seems to be referencing late 19th century Bohemian politics.
It makes sense when you think about how big a footprint Bismarck's and Kaiser Wilhem I's Germany had in the US - movies, TV shows, comic books. Every time you turn on the History Channel, there's ol' Bismarck, Admiral Tirpirz, and Fredrich von Holstein...
History degree here and I hate to tell the "reporter" this but not everyone was fine with the 1st or 2nd "reich" people suffered there as well during consolidation.
Laughed at “Trump” and “appear to be a reference to pan-German nation, unifying smaller states into a single Reich, or empire, in 1871” occupying the same statement.
“Oh right, the dog scooting on the rug was paying homage to the mixed economic focuses between the 13 Colonies.”
