Mild and clinical depression are a bit different though. Clinical depression stops your ability to do your daily activities of living (showering etc). High functioning depression doesn't stop it, but makes it feel like torture. And most of it is treatable, if people can recognise it.

Theme from clinic: Depression as the great mimic of dementia. I can't tell you how many people have no idea they are depressed. My patient today told me their mood was good, but kept changing the topic when I talked about feelings. But an honestly-answered Geriatric Depression Scale never lies.
