Let me try to put my cards on the table and lay out where I'm at re: Biden bowing out and the race in general. #1: I am bewildered by how many different factions are hostile to Biden and how bad the polls have been. In my view, he's a pretty good president (certainly better than I expected).

I would venture to suggest no one in her orbit has Alzheimer's or any other form of dementia. My dad died of it. It's not a joke, or the subject of a snappy little column in WaPo. It's a merciless, heartless disease that saps the person you love from the inside out.

Days after the Chevron ruling a corporate healthcare system - which doesn’t pay any taxes despite being a profit-driven business - is now suing Medicare so that they can collect more *tax dollars* w/o having to meet the standards of care set by CMS. Ouch, I'm so sorry about your ankle! I hope it's better now -- it can be a rough injury to heal. I used a roller walker for a while after I had a hip replaced and I really needed it but wow I hated feeling so vulnerable. And we're back to how much stigma there is around any "weakness." 🙄

Oh do I feel this. My mother, to whom weekly Mass was something you went to unless you were in the hospital, stopped going to Mass when she sprained an ankle: she didn't want to use crutches or a walker because it was embarrassing. 🙄
