"lets just move on as a country from the bush era torture" predictably did not heal the nation, it just empowered the torturers to grow bolder and entrench their power.

Let me spoil this one for you: every single source is confidential. Every single one. We don't know how close they actually are to anything, and not one "Democratic leader" is even named in this article. Not. One. This is just messed up. This is Inquirer level reporting.

Note that when all these authors are saying "it'll be illegal for me to write if the Republicans get their way," that isn't like some unforeseen side effect of overzealous censorship. Making it illegal for LGBTQ writers to publish, for LGBTQ people to speak, Is The Goal.

there is a lot of “democrats are the only agents of american politics” underlying fantasies of contested conventions. meaning, no real consideration for how republicans will respond politically or legally for that matter.

I am somewhat confused by the wording in the story but - No purchases of any stocks ever/no sales within 90 days is GOOD - No trading of single name stocks (buy or sell) within 90 days of legislation is an improvement but not sufficient IMO

The details of this are surprisingly good! There's no reason that members of Congress should be trading single name stocks, even if it's being done on their behalf by an advisor. *SENATORS ANNOUNCE DEAL ON CONGRESSIONAL STOCK TRADING BAN: NBC

If Biden loses, who gives a shit who was right, the country is in deep, deep trouble. Truly, truly irrelevant who was right about what online. If Biden, or Harris, or by some bafflingly strange error some local shop assistant called Mr McGreggor wins, who cares. The top-line is Trump /must/ lose.

Communications tip: don't say "Project 2025" say "Trump's Project 2025." He's trying to run away from it, tie it to his neck like an anchor by making the words "Project 2025" naturally follow the word "Trump" in people's heads.

Cannot stress to you how poorly Project 2025 functions as a policy document, though. Far from being a grand plan to overhaul the Executive, it's more like someone's notes to write a bunch of policies if that person didn't know what the next person needed guidance on to craft a policy

Everyone is suddenly noticing how much the New York Times straitjackets its coverage to fit pre-chosen narratives and I am here for it. Their first big experiment with this, btw, was adopting a mindless anti-tech line back in the 2010s that wrecked their ability to actually hold tech accountable.
