I can’t imagine asserting with unwavering confidence that I knew who was or wasn’t the best candidate against Trump.

The fact that these thoughts come from "Obsolete Dogma" should've stopped this thread in its tracks. Stop taking users like this seriously. These are the type of idiot who still think the NYT is the "paper of record."

I haven't read all of these takes, but the ones I have read all fail to make a case for a specific person. Most don't mention any names. Some list three or four. I know why, but I wonder if the pundits do.

Agree, and also: a democracy that depends on voters picking the person who has the most chance of winning, as opposed to the person they want to govern, is not much of a democracy. [consider this an indictment of 2-party system, electoral college, campaign finance, etc, etc, etc]

So many of these takes act like the choice is being made in a vacuum, and that any decision to ditch Harris would not, in itself, have a huge impact on the ability to defeat Trump (by alienating a big part of the base).

Especially asserting with unwavering cofidence not just who was the best candidate to beat Trump, but that the guy who *wasn't* is also the guy that literally beat him last time. Like what is the basis for any of this.

Choosing to switch horses mid-stream and leaving out the top two candidates as contenders? Giving anyone they stick in the position a couple of months to gain traction? Don't fall for The 'right' is going to push this hard up until July 11th, when Trump gets sentenced. They are worried.

It's also not sentimentality to want the system to work the way people expected it to work when they voted! We haven't had "party leaders pick the candidate" as our system in my lifetime. We specifically downgraded superdelegates because people were pissed that they could theoretically overrule vote

Apparently that guy can't either, based on that screenshot at least. Imagine saying that & then *not* immediately naming the best candidate in question. It's only 4 months out dude, it's good that we've got an obvious best candidate to replace Biden but there's no time to be coy re: their identity!
