“Disappointed, but not surprised” is the usual take, but I feel like I’m beyond being surprised when a famous man is outed as a sex offender. And it’s been a while since I was a real Gaiman fan. But I am still disappointed. How fucking hard is it to not fuck people? I manage it all the damn time!

As a side note, this is John McEntee, Trump's Director of White House Personnel and the primary architect of Project 2025. On Tik Tok he said he gives counterfeit bills to homeless people so they will be arrested when they go to spend them.

We had a moment in which we could have treated this like a rerun of but her emails ratfuckery and reject it outright, circle the wagons, and put up a defense. Instead we (and again, most damaging, elected officials) prioritized getting “honest and smart” points like this is a normal election.

The fact that Biden is not a fucking lunatic that drops unhinged tweets at 3am is the single biggest unspoken reason he curbstomped Trump in the popular vote in 2020.

Here's what bothers me about Biden critics. I believe they are simply promoting themselves in this rather than having a legitimate approach to ensuring Trump does not win. "Biden must step aside" is not a strategy to win. It's just not.

This is particularly important to understand because Trumpist authoritarianism is the descendent of Jim Crow far more than say Hitler or Pinochet or Orban, and it's going to look a lot more like 1930s Mississippi than 1930s Berlin.

Right, if you can't say with your whole chest "Biden is the Democratic Party's nominee for 2024 and until such a time that he steps aside I will support him whole-heartedly", you don't have the strength to actually fight fascism. If you are shitting bricks over 0.3% in the polls you're cooked.

Something that's important to do now is WRITE TO YOUR MP. Particularly if they are new. Not a form letter or autogenerated one. An actual personal one. Not frothy. Just firm and clear. Ask them their views. When they respond, tell them how it aligns (or doesn't) to KEEP your vote.

This is really important now — lots of very thin majorities, even (especially!) for Labour MPs. MPs will still be thinking about campaigns right now, where in a fairly short time they'll be thinking about being an MP for five years. Get them thinking about the issues that matter to you — now!

NYT has been doing this for a while. They faithfully quote full sentences including every “umm uhh” stutter or repetition from Biden then paraphrase Trump like “Trump states that the economy is “strong” and his next term will be “tremendous””. I haven’t seen a full quote from Trump in a long time

Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).

The qualities of the candidate often do not fucking matter if the people who really want that candidate to get elected are willing to play hardball, especially if the candidate is an incumbent. Maybe, just this once, we could learn this lesson from the GOP to save ourselves from true horror.

Look at how The Times is positioning this. As they call for Biden's head but even before she might ascend to the candidacy, it's tearing down Harris. Doing her job is "trying to quiet her doubters." They write about the odds of success not the stakes of failure: fascism.
