You could do something narrative-ish, like cards or game currency builds a player a narrative fanfic outline, maybe other players can complicate it, and then the main player has to ad-lib it.

so like the generic "young hero" card would be logged as something you've played and exists and other abilities would allow you to alter its traits, give it a name, make it stronger, etc. so the game creates a history through a series of on-paper database updates

so like the IDEA being, you are simulating a story about whatever, you have a card called "young hero," which is virtual, it's not really a CCG, it's really a row in a database, it can do various things, but also, other abilities can modify or update different database rows, including its name etc

like the idea being, you have a notebook and you maintain different pages, and you have virtual "cards" you select using dice or whatever from lists of rows in tables (which are ordered and can change order) all on paper

thinking about trying to design some kind of paper based game system to help me develop and flesh out stories, like... this is gonna sound really weird and it is, but I kinda want to make a game simulating writing a fanfic, but using paper-based simulation of database operations

none of my state politicians have ever filed a lawsuit on my behalf to protect me from criminal charges when I got a speeding ticket in Texas, and had to pay it after moving to New Jersey, did New Jersey try to enjoin the municipality of Houston? no? well they SHOULD obviously

If only we could come up with some sort of universal object that if someone, just as an example, didn't want to spend many hours of their day toiling in the soil could earn by doing some other sort of task and then exchange THAT for food. Ah well, maybe one day.

One of the greatest things about Biden is how he stops to help kids with stutters and offers them advice. It's just beautiful to see. Especially as a parent of a child with a stutter, it upsets me how little tolerance for or understanding of speech impediments that Americans have.

As a general rule people who make a brand "telling you hard truths" will inevitably fall into a mild of narcissism that can't stand talkback and slowly lose their ability to update priors. Not every time but it's pattern.

I think basically what's going on here is every journalist is reporting in the Woodward and Bernstein tradition, where if your reporting results in a big change in policy or (!!!) a presidential resignation, you win all the Pulitzers.

If I were an optimist I would say we are at the "villain confidently starts monologuing about the success of his evil plan before it is a success" phase. I got a call from my extremely normie mom scared about the SC ruling. It is possible the crowing about blood scares a lot of ordinary folks.

The thing about Heritage and other MAGA goons is they're literally afraid to ride public transit and wet their pants a little anytime a car backfires. That's not to say they can't be scary, but let's keep in mind that they're also pathetic and there are only so many coked-up Proud Boys.

like at a certain point you do have to realize that not only are your friends proverbial lemmings, but so are tons of powerful people, and therefore people freaking out and doing things because of it is not a reason for you to freak out and do things

also, jesus christ people, the reason there weren't laws against gender affirming care for youth in most states a few years ago is because almost no one was getting it. if it was happening it was quiet. the idea that this backlash is a sign of things getting worse is *actively misleading*
