I keep seeing the dynamic as: Trump insults NYT > both he & NYT assume left will rush to NYT's defense solely to be anti-Trump > NYT can push GOP/RU disinfo to the left > left will believe it w/o question bc "Trump 'hates' them = it's true". So, NYT has never sued for defamation bc it's a scheme.
