Granted, I don't have kids, but I've lived in some moderately cold places and I've even lost heating in some really nasty weather.
A little heat to get into bed is a nice convenience, but a 15 tog comforter and warm night clothes will handle almost any weather without electrical assistance.

Many years ago we had an electric blanket. No cut off- we had to switch it on for an hour and remember to turn it off before we went to sleep. We forgot once and woke up 2 hours later feeling seriously ill... and we were both adults
reminds me of a report from rotten.com decades ago: old guy died while in bathtub. is found days later, with kitchen immersion heater (for warm bath water) still on. when grabbing the leg, the bone glitches right out. he was well done.
I took out the fan on my Xbox One’s power supply unit because Id create more heat for some reason than the actual caps.
But then again a child wasn’t in my Xbox. And my Xbox wasn’t specifically designed to heat up.
I confess I adore my electric blanket but do _not_ recommend using one for a child. They don't thermoregulate as well as adults.
Me, I regulate the temp by tossing it off and pulling it on again as needed. Works for me.
NB I'm also not insane enough to tinker with its built in safety features.
I know there's no hard evidence of cancer risk but on top of everything else I wouldn't trust anything that generates EMFs to be under or on top of my baby for potentially hours on end
I strongly recommend not removing a fundamental safety feature from an electric device that is capable of
a) suffocating your child in carbon monoxide
b) setting your house on fire
c) killing you
d) killing your child
e) killing the people trying to save you
f) all of the above
hardly the worst problem here but TRIACs don't even have drain and source pins!! that's MOSFETS! TRIACs have MT1/MT2!
why would you go out of your way to show off your knowledge if that knowledge is wrong
