Every day proves Thaddeus Stevens right: there should've been big Nuremberg-style public trials of leading Confederates, accompanied by seizures of the assets of all pro-Confederate large landowners and businessmen, which should then have been distributed to freed slaves as compensation.

In 2000, Virginia requested the return of their colours. Then-governor Jesse Ventura replied simply: “Why? I mean, we won.” Repeated calls in 2002, 2003, 2010 and in 2013 for the 150th anniversary have led to the same reply. Minnesota remembers its own. /END

I mean, Trump was probably only stopped from ordering the shooting of those protesters on June 1, 2020 by being told he could later be prosecuted for it...pretty sure that would fall under an "official act" as commander-in-chief with this ruling, right?

So, basically, the ~30% who want unrestricted guns, and abortion banned in every circumstance, and who think the election was stolen, and who won't get vaccinated, and who want the ten commandments in schools, and who think the president is above the law, well, those ~30% run the country now.

The fact that Biden has delivered on left-wing policy far better than any president in generations but is widely despised by left-wing voters reflects more poorly on left-wing institutions and voters than on Biden. This is not a movement showing political maturity, and I say that as a left-winger

You know what's crazy is you could easily write a historically compelling op-ed about how Trump should end his campaign because he's a convicted criminal who tried to overthrow the government and is only on the ballot/out of prison because of extremely corrupt judges he personally appointed

being the Calm Down guy isn’t my usual thing but people insist on conflating their own sense of how badly the debate went for Biden (it was bad!) with actual voters in the real world who were sincerely going to vote for Biden and changed their mind last night.

The requirement forces Oklahoma teachers to "reference" the role of the Ten Commandments in America's founding, so as a historian & teacher, let me offer this suggestion: "Although some idiots today insist that the Founding Fathers were inspired by the Ten Commandments, they absolutely were not."

Of course both these things are annoying but the idea that this is worse than 2009 is insane. Are you aware that’s possible to go many months, even years, with NO job, NO health insurance? There are worse things than paying fees or facing bureaucratic gaps in coverage as you upgrade your job

A serious attempt by legislators or a candidate to invalidate a plainly valid election to install someone who plainly lost the election as president is not a "legal hack" or "finalizing results". It is treason. It is a treason against the United States and its citizens. We shouldn't dance around it.
