I watched the Fifth Element last night, and I know this is an annoying thing to say, but it is nice to see an expansive sci fi world which only exists in one movie. No spin offs, no sequels, no prequels, just one story.

Since when has the Tory party ever said "we need to appeal to Labour voters by offering their popular policies"? It's a foregone conclusion, especially if Reform does well, that the survivors have to go further right. It's what the press demands.

This is where I have a small, boring bit of advice, from my time managing a customer contact centre for a central government department: write letters to your MP asking them to raise issues with secretaries of state; make the letters unique, not copy-and-paste campaigns; be direct, not cranky.

Yeah there's an incredible silence about the fact this could have been dealt with in 2017 if a lot of today's "you simply must vote Labour despite any reservations to stop the horrid Tories" had held that opinion then. But they didn't.

No, it's not exactly hope and change. As far as I can tell the manifesto is either "no change", or "we're going to do this thing that doesn't require us to spend money", which I am extremely sceptical of, or transphobia

We do have to ask what the correct way to "listen" to Gillian Duffy was. I do think that getting the basics right of local politics will help a lot, but it's displacement rather than directly acknowledging the desire for mass deportations
