JUST IN: Labour heading toward a landslide victory in the UK. This is their return to power, for the first time since 2010. National exit poll, released moments ago, shows them above 400 seats. The ruling conservatives projected at 131, which would be their lowest since WWII.

The NYTs has become “Cops,” only for liberal political anxieties. Its audience knows who Trump is, so they can’t drum up any more anxiety about him than already exists. So they lean into worries about the dems ability to prevent Trump’s takeover - paradoxically making it much more likely.

I know people are deeply worried about DT becoming president. But you don’t solve that worry by replacing one imperfect solution and with an even riskier solution. Biden’s admin has been one of the most effective in my lifetime re unions, climate, infrastructure, jobs, economy. What gives?

Watch for the American Right to begin to make claims that by overreacting to and mischaracterizing the Trump immunity decision, critics are causing “unrest”, and then watch for them to use that to justify the things Trump does.

It’s much more civilized on here. I am no longer active on the bird app because it feels so toxic there. I only jump on it to check breaking news trends. I fear news organizations stay on Twitter because of the algorithm, and the nature of news in turn gets warped by it.

I haven’t been paying as much attention as usual to inflation indicators. But we’ve been getting a string of good news.   One source of inflation pessimism was the high ratio of job openings to unemployed workers. That issue has now gone away, with unemployment still very low 1/

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

Under today’s immunity decision, Biden could order AG Garland to immediately prosecute Thomas and Alito for corruption and insurrection. (Official act). If Garland refuses, Biden can fire him and replace him with someone who will. (Official act) I would suggest Elie Mystal.

Also if you are 48 years old you have lived *your entire life to date* under the authority of a Supreme Court majority appointed by Republican presidents. It's a clear violation of the principle that governments derive legitimacy from the consent of the governed. Happy July 4th Week!

I don't want some egghead bureaucrat telling me whether there's poison in the water I drink. Ideally I'd want that decided by a 29yo judge who went to a "biblical law school" and does not believe dinosaurs existed, and then to have that decision reaffirmed six years later by the Supreme Court.

Reminder that there are five ways to address the current SCOTUS problem. 1. Impeach some justices 2. Impose term limits 3. Expand the courts 4. Pass legislation limiting court prerogatives 5. Keep winning the presidency for the next 16 years or so while periodically also holding the senate.

Run. On. Court. Reform. There is no way to legislate effectively with this Supreme Court. So there is no agenda the dems can propose that has any traction. The GOP can’t win on policy, so they expand the power of the courts to rule by fiat. Someone in the dem camp has to see this, right?
