What’s interesting about the Biden interview is to look up Howard Dean interviews after his little happy yell and see how the media treat them pretty similarly despite Bidens age mattering and Howard Deans yell meaning nothing. All the interviews are like “…what do you tell people who saw that?”

I spoke to a friend I knew in high school who told me he "doesn't follow politics." I asked him what he thought about the election. He said, "I hear Biden's a senile wreck." He also said he hadn't heard of SCOTUS granting Trump immunity and has never heard of Project 2025. Media's doing a great job.

The biggest issue with Biden coverage is that he’s now The Story, which means that most of the press is focused on The Story and not any of the context or consequences. If we were having a serious discussion about qualifications for presidency, age, and the two main candidates, I’d be fine with it.

IMO the biggest problem with Biden's age is the fact that Trump wants to be a dictator on day one and it doesn't look like there's anything or anyone in our institutions that are willing or able to stop him.

It's fairly insane that MOST political journalists exhibit no understanding that being President and running for President are not the same thing, and often a President who is effective at making policy may not titillate their beltway gossip machine, which reflects on THEIR competence, not his.

I think I may finally cancel my subscription, which'll be a disappointment as are still an amazing paper in many ways. But some recent decisions (and not-recent decisions remarkable in their arrogant shortsightedness, such as 86ing the public editor) are indefensible.
