Look as someone who is a NYer I think it is important to understand that the D party in NY exists to maintain power, that both parties exist to enrich their cronies at the state trough and that most of this happens through completely unaccountable quasi governmental state agencies such as the MTA.

A tragic and abject mess! Given the partisan composition of the state you’d think NY would be an incubator of a lot of cutting edge left leaning/progressive policy ideas. Instead it’s nothing! Rebecca Traister wrote a great long read about Cuomo that highlighted a lot of the dysfunction.

as a reluctant NY Dem (only registered to vote so I could vote in primaries), YES. I’m in upstate in a “liberal” town that loves our cops and civility over actual betterment for the people here and I’m generally more angry at our mainstream dems than the repubs who at least are acting as i expect.
